Measurements of electrolytes and secreted proteins have been used for decades for this purpose, providing valuable but limited diagnostic insight. Our working hypothesis is that the diagnostic information derived from these fluids can be greatly enhanced by incorporating DNA, RNA, metabolomic and proteomic derived biomarkers. The clinical impact of such a multiomic biomarker set will be invaluable for early detection of disease, disease progression and analysis of treatment efficacy.
